I knew Obama would be a historically bad president with left wing, tax, spend, and more federal government control policies. But I was not prepared for this level of dishonesty, ineptitude and what I would call borderline treason. I was working on a long winded post. But, as during the campaign, I thought I might be better served by feeding the words from other sources so I can’t be accused of being a “spin machine” which a young liberal minded person recently used to describe me. But before I link off to the WSJ I have a few thoughts to share:

I understand what it is like to be young and dumb yet think you know it all. I was there once too. So I let the remark slide without debate. But it got me thinking. If someone, that seems reasonably intelligent, can be so blinded from the truth and the future of this country is in his generation’s hands, then we just might be doomed to become another “euro” style economy and government. I can only hope not.

Did you notice that the senate HAD to vote for this spending package in the middle of the night Friday because it could not wait even 48 hours to be passed? It was that dire. We were DOOMED if they did not pass it right a way. This from the AP:

The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn’t have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote.

So they didn’t even read how they were spending close to a TRILLION dollars!!!

And upon passing it what did our fearless leader do? Did he rush to the oval office to finalize it? Did he burn the midnight oil to save the country and the world from this inevitable economic dooms day?

No!

He figured it can wait till his family gets back from a little trip.

Huh?!?

Now, that the only thing left is his signature, it is no longer urgent?!? He got what he wanted and he rubbed the tax payers noses in it. I can’t wait to read about all the pork in this one.

You all voted for him, not me. Hope you like what you got. The only positive I can take from this is that because of the irresponsible spending that is going to take place, and the negative impact it will have, that the conservative movement just got a huge lift. I bet we will see the beginning of the swing back in the 2010 elections.

From the WSJ:

President Barack Obama has turned fearmongering into an art form. He has repeatedly raised the specter of another Great Depression. First, he did so to win votes in the November election. He has done so again recently to sway congressional votes for his stimulus package.
[Commentary] AP

In his remarks, every gloomy statistic on the economy becomes a harbinger of doom. As he tells it, today’s economy is the worst since the Great Depression. Without his Recovery and Reinvestment Act, he says, the economy will fall back into that abyss and may never recover.

This fearmongering may be good politics, but it is bad history and bad economics. It is bad history because our current economic woes don’t come close to those of the 1930s. At worst, a comparison to the 1981-82 recession might be appropriate. Consider the job losses… read more
